What is PAT Testing?
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the process of checking electrical appliances for safety. While not always a strict legal requirement, it is widely required by insurers, letting agents and employers. Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, employers and landlords have a duty to ensure electrical equipment is safe. PAT testing is the most recognised way to demonstrate this.
